When it comes to making a big decision, it's easy for someone to say, "Oh, you'll just know when it's right." But how do we really know? To be honest, sometimes we do just know! A decision is obvious because it aligns with what we already know about ourselves. In other cases, the choice is not as obvious. There is not a right-or-wrong answer. How do I determine the better of two good options? We do this through a process of discernment, a word used in the spiritual life to describe intentional and prayerful decision making, a way of responding to where God is leading us.
